In the second verse of morning at the window we see in the first line some pathetic fallacy from the brown waves of fog which creates atmosphere. Elliot also refers to twisted faces saying how it all seems a blur, all is miserable or maybe that they are actually twisted and it is not just used in its metaphoric sense whether the twisted be mentally or physically. And finally we see impending picture further evoked by the oxymoronic aimless smile.
